The newly-established Thai Women’s Professional Golf Association will stage the Phoenix Ladies Classic which offers a total prize money of Bt 1 million at the Phoenix Gold Golf and Country Club Pattaya between March 26-28.

The exhibition will serve up as the inaugural event by Thai WPGA which was officially open on February 19. The tournament will feature a total of 136 professionals and amateurs competing in a 54-hole stroke play format. After two rounds of 36 holes, only top 60 players will proceed into the final showdown.

To apply for competition which is now open until March 15, players must be a member of either a golf association or club. Ranking points will be awarded to participating players and will be taken into account for entry into future Thai WPGA tournaments.

Teen sensation Atthaya Thitikul and Kanyalak Preedasuttijit are among star players who have already confirmed their participation in the Classic. Both rose to fame after they dominated the first three editions of the Ladies European Thailand Championship (Atthaya in 2017 and 2019, Kanyalak in 2018) which also occurred at this course.

Fresh from claiming her victory in the Thailand Mixed in Hua Hin last month, 19-year-old Arpichaya Yubol is one of the promising players to make their appearance in the exhibition. Others include Chonlada Chayanun from Nakhon Ratchasima and LPGA player Pannarat Thanapolboonyaras from Roi Et.
